Learning & Teaching

The Academy's curriculum is broad based and satisfies the national requirements but in addition includes Computer Studies, French, Swahili, Arts and Crafts, Food & Nutrition and Fashion & Fabrics. Also agriculture and animal husbandry are taught both theoretically and practically at the Academy's farm.

We aim to develop those qualities of leadership and independence of thought which are in demand now more than ever before. This we hope to achieve by providing a healthy, happy and cultured school life with sensible ideas about religion, work, discipline and games. We provide excellent modern facilities based on traditional lines, and offer a wonderful opportunity for children to receive a first-class education in a caring yet disciplined atmosphere, in which they can grow and learn within their own local environment while at the same time developing a broader sense of responsibility towards their fellows and aim for a high standard of personal achievement in a wide range of activities, both social and academic.

We hope you will see that the Katatumba Academy is a unique institution in Uganda.

The educational priorities

  • High academic standards for career success;
  • A broad general education to create well-informed, interesting individuals;
  • Concern for personal development towards social confidence and fulfilment;
  • A spiritual basis to establish peace in our lives;
  • Stimulating challenges in all aspects of the creative arts to improve the quality of life;
  • A sense of belonging-within the school itself, as well as an awareness of the needs of others and the contribution which can be made to the outside community and society in general.

The Academy seeks to provide an essentially happy community which by virtue of the range of its facilities and its strong corporate sense, can cater for and benefit the widest possible range of character.
